Job Description: Product Designer

Location: San Francisco, CA
Type: Full-time

Compensation: 230K-500K(TC)

About the Role
Lightsource is looking for a Product Designer to join our tiny but mighty design team. You’ll report directly to the Lead Product Designer and focus primarily on feature design work for our enterprise web app. You’ll also flex across brand, marketing, and web initiatives when needed: from refining our design system to supporting our website and collateral.

This is a hands-on, cross-functional role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys high-output production work, and understands how design connects to business and engineering. You don’t need to code, but you should know how design gets built.

Responsibilities

  • Design intuitive product features for our enterprise application

  • Deliver clean, responsive, developer-ready designs and prototypes in Figma

  • Contribute to and improve our design system for scale and consistency

  • Collaborate closely with engineering during build and QA

  • Support brand and marketing projects (web, decks, social, etc.)

  • Communicate design intent clearly to stakeholders across teams

  • Work across product, brand, web, and marketing initiatives with speed and quality

  • Balance multiple priorities and switch contexts quickly

  • Translate abstract goals into clean, usable designs

The Team
We’re a tight-knit group of builders and engineers from companies like Tesla, Waymo, and Google X. We’re solving big, gnarly problems in sourcing and supply chains—systems that power the physical world. You’ll work closely with engineers and customers, help shape processes, and play a key role in shipping real impact.

We keep the team small, hire only the best, and move fast with intention. If you’re curious, friendly, and like to learn while doing, you’ll fit right in.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in product design

  • Figma mastery (components, autolayout, prototyping)

  • Experience working with or building design systems

  • Strong interaction and visual design fundamentals

  • Experience shipping features in collaboration with engineers

  • Familiarity with front-end development (CSS, layout, responsiveness)

  • Experience applying brand across different touchpoints

  • Self-directed and comfortable participating in product discussions

  • Clear communicator who can give and receive feedback effectively

  • Experience working across multiple projects and stakeholders at once

  • Ability to shift between strategic thinking and production mode seamlessly

  • Strong prioritization skills and fast turnaround without sacrificing polish

Bonus Points

  • Startup or agency experience

  • Exposure to complex enterprise product design

  • Ability to work across product, brand, and marketing design

  • A passion for craft, systems thinking, and continuous improvement

  • Comfort working in ambiguity and driving clarity

  • Agency or freelance background with exposure to many brands and workflows

  • Experience designing for both product and marketing audiences

  • Comfortable presenting work to non-designers and executive stakeholders

You’ll thrive here if you’re…

  • Hungry, curious, and adaptable

  • Obsessed with clean, usable interfaces

  • Not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get into the details

  • Excited to help shape the future of a growing product and brand

  • Energized by shifting priorities and tight timelines

  • Obsessed with quality, even under pressure

  • Able to translate messy inputs into clean creative

  • Comfortable owning both high-concept and executional work

  • Enjoy a friendly, social environment where communication is core to our team
